BUILDING SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAM
DecarbNY is a pioneering initiative focused on enhancing the sustainability of New York City buildings, ensuring compliance with Local Law 97.
The program is dedicated to assisting building owners in achieving significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, cutting operational carbon, and avoiding penalties.
By optimizing HVAC systems and implementing affordable operational upgrades, we help buildings become more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient.
How It Works

1
Assess Eligibility
Start by submitting your building portfolio for a free eligibility assessment by the experts on the DecarbNY team. By comparing your buildings' data and HVAC system specifications to those of similar buildings, they will be classified as eligible for likely energy savings, LL97 fine reduction, and 50% to 100% cost subsidy through programs like NYSERDA FlexTech.

2
Reduce Operational Carbon
The program uses technologies like Poppy Certify for RetroCx to optimize HVAC systems, aligning clean airflow rates with true occupancy and ensuring that buildings are not wasting energy.
This optimization leads to significant reductions in energy consumption and operating costs, all while maintaining indoor air quality standards in line with ASHRAE Standards 241 and 62.1.

3
Mitigate or Eliminate LL97 Fines
By submitting a decarbonization plan with projected energy savings, buildings can qualify for the Good Faith Effort pathway, allowing them to delay Local Law 97 fines and receive an additional two years to meet compliance targets. This pathway provides much-needed flexibility for building owners, giving them time to achieve decarbonization without the immediate pressure of penalties.
